Christmas is here!

I think I finally have all my decorations done for this year!

Here are all our Christmas trees.

And here is our snowman display:

We've actually added a few more since this picture and we put all the snowman ornaments on too!

I don't have a picture of the lights out front but maybe I'll get those taken yet!  Now I'm working on Christmas Program Videos from the school and practices for the church!

School Christmas Programs 2014

I'm going to try to post each of the kids' school program videos in one post.  They will all be YouTube videos so hopefully you will be able to watch them all in one post.  I will warn you, some of them are long.  I recorded the whole thing to the best of my capabilities with only a few blimps excluded due to technical difficulties,  So, feel free to skip through if you want or enjoy the whole thing.

We will start with Jonny's part of the program on December 1st.  His class had a few individual parts before the 'skit' with the 3rd Graders.

Next is the joint skit of K-3.  This is where Nathan had a speaking part.

Next is Abigail's vocal program on the 4th.  Her class, like Jonny's, had a few individual songs, and then the whole 4-6 joint skit.  I think I put all of them into one video so this one is really long...like 40 minutes!

Finally we have Abi's band concert.  This was the entire school band program, but in this one I only kept the portions with Abi's participation.

I hope you enjoy all the videos.  Due to the length of time it takes to upload and create the videos you'll need to come back and check for the various links.  But I wanted to at least get the base post up and going.

My Mother's Day Gift

This is my Mother's Day gift this year, though the Farmer says it is more a family gift sine they get to enjoy the product thereof.

Schlatter Christmas at Thanksgiving

The Schlatter Gift Exchange took place the weekend of Thanksgiving.

Looks like everyone had a great time.  I know the kids are definitely enjoying the new coats from Grandma and Grandpa.  Jonny got an arrow set, Nate got some legos, and Abi got some cool fabric to make her own pillow with and Ethan got this cool blue tractor!  Thank YOU to everyone.

Family Christmas Tree

I am so excited.

This year, the Farmer gave me the opportunity to get some new decorations.  One of the things we got, was a family tree.  This tree is colorful, fun filled, and full of our special family ornaments.

We had a great time decorating and it is so fun to see the joy in the kids' faces.

Wheat Harvest 2013

Today is the last day of Harvest 2013 (and also the 4th of July but Harvest is our theme for this post).  Overall it has been a good harvest, we had one field that was the worst wheat the Farmer had ever cut, but the other fields seemed to make up for that one hailed field.

Anyway, I took the kids out to the field for some pictures before it was all gone.  I think we got a few cute ones:

I really should put together a comparison of all the years to see how the kids have changed each harvest.  It has become such a tradition to get the Farmer and his kids together on the combine!

Well, happy 4th of July and we hope you have a great rest of the summer.

Memorial Day 2013

For several years now, the Farmer has put the flags out at the Oak Creek Cemetery for Memorial Day.  We are always stunned at the beautiful view they make:

Of course, this year we had additional reasons to go to the cemetery.  I thought about just buying some plastic yellow roses to put out but then I came up with the idea of placing a hanging yellow rose.  I liked the idea of having a 'living' memory of Sarah.  My hope is to keep it alive for year after year, but we will see how that goes.

The kids asked to stop by and 'see Sarah' on our way home on Sunday.  Here is a picture of the kids:

Here is a picture of the rose and the pink iridescent dragonfly the kids picked to place.  And though I didn't ask, I think the pastel heart is from Grandma and Grandpa Schlatter.

Overall we had a good Memorial Day.  Our grill died, so we couldn't grill out, but we enjoyed sitting outside on the porch in our new chairs and working in the yard a bit.  It was a very windy but beautiful day.

Praying you all had a great Memorial Day as well!

More Easter 2013

Sunday morning we took our time at home and prepared for the busy day ahead of us.  Usually we go to the Sunrise Service, but this year we decided to stay home and take it a bit easier. The kids go all dressed up in their Easter outfits and we headed off to church.  (I didn't get any pictures of the kids all dressed up as my camera was at Grandma and Grandpa Schlatter's house from the day before.  But, you will see Abi's outfit, and if you imagine the boys in khakis then you'll pretty much have the idea.)

After lunch at Grandma and Grandpa's, we all headed over to our house where the Farmer and his brother had hidden all the eggs around our house for the Cousin's Egg Hunt.  Following are some pictures of that:

Kids gathering around the building to wait their turn.

Jonny and Cousin E starting off on their hunt.

Ethan gathering his eggs.
(he had already lost his yellow bucket so we had to use a sack instead)

Cousin C and Ethan starting off on their hunt.

Here is Abi.  Her dress was a yellow bling chiffon with a linen skirt and white shrug.

Abi and Cousin B looking for eggs.
Grandma Schlatter off to help some of the other kids.

The guys really hid the eggs well.  They went ALL over the yard trying to find them.

They even had to go under the trees and around the tall grass behind the chicken coop.

The Farmer and I were very thankful for the blessings of the day.  After everyone gave up on finding eggs, there was a time of playing with the bat and ball, and then everyone went home and took naps.  It was so nice to have a relaxing holiday and to remember that Jesus came and died to forgive us.  Forgive us of our sins, our mistakes, and our weaknesses.
